15 Week Baby Bump Update!

Hello there and happy Thursday!

How far along? 15 weeks

Baby is the size of? A naval orange {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Total weight gain/loss? Not sure, my next appointment is 1 week from today so I'll find out then how much I've gained because I'm quite sure I've gained weight by now...

Maternity clothes? I'm LOVING my maternity jeans {sooo much better than regular jeans} and stretchy pants like yoga pants or lounge pants have been what I've been living in!  Not wearing maternity tops yet...just any loose tops I can find in my closet.

Stretch marks? Not yet, and I hope they never show up! Still using Belli Elasticity Belly Oil every night.

Symptoms? I've been getting headaches this week, but that's about it.

Sleep? My stomach sleeping days are over :( Sleeping on my side has made me a bit restless, but hopefully I'll get used to it.  I slept with a body pillow we had lying around the house last night and that helped make it more comfortable so we'll see how that goes.

Best moment of the week? Doc and I didn't celebrate Mother's Day because, well I'm not a mother yet, and it just seems a little silly to celebrate the day but we still made the day special by going out to a new brunch restaurant, which was amazing by the way, and then going to see Iron Man 3 in the theater. We hadn't been out to a movie in a while and it was a lot of fun just spending the day together, exploring new restaurants and new areas where we live.  We will miss days like that once bubbles shows up!

Miss anything? Sleeping on my stomach and over easy eggs!

Movement? None yet.

Food cravings? Sweets for sure!  I made a run out to the grocery store at like 8 PM one night because I just needed to bake something yummy.  I ended up making these cake mix cookie bars.....sooooo goooood! I highly recommend you try them--and they're SO easy! :)

Anything making you quesy or sick? None.

Have you started to show yet? Yup, my belly is popping for sure!

Baby is a? Don't know yet, but cannot wait to find out!

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time? A mix of both lol

Looking forward to: I'm going to Colorado Springs on Saturday for 4 days for a work conference so I'm looking forward to getting some time away to relax at a beautiful hotel {The Broadmoor Hotel for those who are familiar}.  Since I'm not working in an office anymore, I haven't seen my co-workers for a little while so I'm looking forward to seeing some of them lol

Hope you all have a great weekend and I'll be back next week with an update after my OB appointment!

My First Trimester

Happy Thursday everyone!

Well today I am 14 weeks along in my pregnancy, which means I am into my 2nd trimester now!  So how was my 1st trimester?  AWESOME!  I seriously had it so easy compared to many women out there.  I had no morning sickness, no fatigue, no weird pregnancy symptoms like strong smells....I just felt great, felt very normal....except I was pregnant!  I was definitely moodier though {which I'm sure Doc will agree with} and for just a few weeks, when I would think about food, I would get a bit nauseous; however, that never effected my appetite!  I still ate very normally.

So yea, I really had a very easy time during my 1st trimester and I feel even better starting out my 2nd!  I've been trying to stay active and work out, but I really did close to nothing during my 1st trimester. It was just very hard to wake up at 5 AM and workout and then we were so crazy busy moving, that I put it off.  Now that I'm in Michigan, I signed up with a new gym and I even got a personal trainer for 6 sessions to help me workout while being pregnant.  I've been lifting weights {dont worry, light weights!} and I keep my cardio low impact so as not to raise my heart rate too much!  I definitely feel great staying active {and they say it can even help you have an easier birth if you stay active throughout your pregnancy}.

So anyway, let's get to this week's update!

How far along? 14 weeks...26 weeks to go! Ahh that seems like sooo far away!

Baby is the size of? A lemon.

Total weight gain/loss? So far I've maintained the same weight throughout my 1st trimester, have not gained or lost weight but I do have my next check up in 2 weeks, so I feel like I'll see some weight gain then.

Maternity clothes? Not quite yet, as I'm just starting to show but my mom is here visiting me this week and my birthday is coming up in a couple weeks, so she took me shopping for maternity clothes for my birthday gift!  I now have 2 pairs of jeans, which I started wearing and they are soooooo much more comfortable! I can still fit into my regular jeans, but wearing that big elastic band is so much better! I also got a couple of tank tops and t-shirts which will be great as I grow.

Stretch marks? Not yet, and I hope they never show up! I'm using Belli Elasticity Belly Oil every night....LOVE this oil!  It smells amazing and feels great on your skin.

Symptoms? No symptoms right now.

Sleep? So I'm a stomach sleeper and I'm definitely coming to the end of being able to still sleep on my stomach. Now that my stomach has pooched out a bit, its getting uncomfortable to lay on my stomach.  I find I ALWAYS wake up on my side or back so I'm moving around a lot at night.  I also have to get up to use the bathroom usually once during the night and having a full bladder while laying on my stomach is no bueno.  I'm considering getting one of those sleep pillows for pregnant women to help sleep on your side....anyone ever use one of those?  Advice?

Best moment of the week? Spending time with my mom probably!  She's been here for a week already and doesn't leave until Saturday so its been so fun hanging out with her and having her see our new house! Also, shopping for maternity clothes with her was a lot of fun!

Miss anything? I miss having a glass of wine at the end of the day....also all the soft cheese I cannot have. I love cheese and miss being able to eat brie, goat, feta, etc.

Movement? None yet.

Food cravings? I've been craving fruit {watermelon, cantaloupe, berries} and recently I've been craving sweets!

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope!

Have you started to show yet? Just starting!

Baby is a? Don't know yet, but cannot wait to find out! We find out at our week 19 appointment, so 5 more weeks!

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time? A mix of both lol

Looking forward to: Spending the rest of the week with my mom and just continuing to see baby grow in belly day by day!

Thanks for reading and I'm excited to share this journey with all of you!

I'm officially married to a doctor now!

Hope you all are having a great weekend so far!  I've been busy busy!  Last weekend my in-laws were here in town, visiting our new house.  And then this past Thursday, Doc and I went back to Columbus because he had his medical school graduation!  My Mom flew in for it and came back to Michigan with us, so she's here with me this whole week {which is always tons of fun for me because we shop and eat and just have fun all day!}

All of us at a BBQ earlier in the day

The past 4 years in med school have been a very long and tedious road for Doc so celebrating it all being over has been fun!  I'm so proud of him...he's done incredibility well, graduating magna cum laude or in other words he's in the top 10% of his class at OSU, an amazing accomplishment!  And now we're on to the next chapter in our lives....residency and a baby!

Speaking of baby, I know I missed updating you on my pregnancy progress....things got crazy once my in-laws got here and graduation but I'll be back this Thursday with my 14 week update!  Also coming up is an update on how my first trimester went.

Have a great Sunday!

Finding out I was pregnant!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Thank you all for your sweet comments yesterday when I announced my pregnancy!  I know many of you are going through this or have gone through this already so I appreciate you all joining me on this journey and sharing your experiences/advice.  And for those of you who have not gone through this, I still hope you'll join me on this journey!

So let's jump right in.....Doc and I have been talking about having kids for years!  I got the baby bug pretty bad after we got married but at the time, Doc was only in his 3rd year of medical school and having a baby would not have been very good for either of us.  I still needed to work since he was not yet making an income and I very badly wanted to be a stay at home mom.  Medical school is so time consuming {and mentally draining} that the idea of having a baby during that time was not ideal for Doc either.  So...we put it off.

I was dying but I knew the timing wasn't right so I waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, during his 4th year of medical school, we thought maybe we could try now because Doc finishes med school in April of 2013 and he is off until his residency starts in July.  If I was due around April, Doc would have those 3 months off where he could spend time helping me and enjoying the baby.  So we tried for 2 months, but nothing happened.  After that, we couldn't keep trying because then I would be due right when Doc starts residency which was not ideal once again.  Doc wanted some time to adjust to residency before we had a baby {all of that at once would be very difficult for him}.

So, we put it off once again but this time, I was like its ok, I'll enjoy the time we have just the two of us right now and I kind of put the baby bug out of my mind.  I enjoyed my alcohol and the ability to just do whatever we wanted!  I was very surprised that I was able to put it out of my mind, but I did and it was good for me.  I also knew the timing wasn't right before...if I had gotten pregnant then, we would have been moving with a newborn baby and it would have been very hard.  We also had no place to really set up a nursery in our previous place so that would have been hard too.

Then my dad passed away and my outlook on life just changed.  I always wanted to have kids before my dad passed away but by the time I realized this, my dad was already sick and as explained above, the timing was never right for Doc and I.  After my dad passed, I looked at the calendar and realized that it didn't matter when I got pregnant...we were finally past the "inopportune" window and from that point forward, it didn't matter when I got pregnant.

So, Doc and I decided ok...let's just start trying and if it happens, it happens.  Well, easier said than done for sure!  I was trying to take a non-chalant approach to baby making but you can't help but stress and worry and hope and wonder if it happened, if it didn't...why didn't it...was our timing not right...when am I ovulating, etc. It goes on and on.

Doc and I got sooooooo lucky because on our 2nd month of trying, we got pregnant!  I actually used an ovulation test kit during that month which helped me pin point when I was ovulating because my periods were always a little irregular {sometimes 25 days, sometimes 34 days}

Anyway, the morning I tested to see if I was pregnant, I was flying to Miami that night for the weekend and I wanted to test while I was with Doc {he was not coming to Miami with me} but I thought I was testing a bit too early and considering the negative tests I had before, I just assumed it would be negative again.  I got up for work that morning and used the test.  While I was waiting for it to give me the result, I was packing my toiletries up in the bathroom...figuring it would take the 3 minutes they say to wait.  Well, like 30 seconds later...I saw the "Pregnant" words pop up!  I had to do a double take and was like whatttttttt?!  I stared at it for like 30 seconds before I "very calmly" as Doc said, walked out of the bathroom and said "I'm pregnant" to a very sleepy Doc in bed.  He shot up and was like what!? Really?! We just stared at the test and couldn't believe that we were going to finally have a baby!

This all happened back in February and I can't believe I'm already coming to the end of my 1st trimester now!  I will be 12 weeks tomorrow and while time has flown by....it also has crawled!  I feel like I've been pregnant forever.  I just cannot wait to hold our little one in my arms....but I'll have to wait until November 7th {or around then} for that!

Tomorrow, I'll start posting my weekly updates and I'll also update you on how my 1st trimester has been!

Big Announcement!

Well.....I know I've had a severe lack of posting recently after my "blog break" but I have good reason why you haven't heard much from me.........

I'M PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bubbles

I'm currently 11 weeks, 5 days today!  We had our 12 week check up today so we got to see our little nugget {or Bubbles as we've been calling him or her} and we can't believe how much its grown since our 9 week ultrasound!  It actually looks like a baby!! Crazy...

Anyway, I've been bursting at the seams to talk about this on here and keeping secrets is not my forte so its been very hard to say the least!  So I'm so glad that we're finally at the end of our first trimester and I can talk about it!  I have been following a handful of baby blogs for years now and have been anticipating the day that I can document this amazing journey as well, so please...I welcome any baby advice, tips, anything you want to share with me!

I will be back to tell you all about how we found out and what my first trimester has been like these past 11 weeks!

Have a great rest of the day!

My best friend's wedding!

Good morning everyone!

Last weekend, I was in Miami visiting my family and going to one of my best friend's weddings!  The wedding was beautiful and the bride was stunning!  Unfortunately, I didn't get any good pics at the wedding {maybe once the professional ones come out I can show you better ones}, but here is a picture of the reception tent with the couple dancing in the bottom right corner:

And here is a picture I got off of her facebook as the bride and groom left the church:

Now I finally have this weekend to stay at home and not have to travel!  That means I have to buckle down on packing up my place because in just 4 weeks we'll be moving....and for about a week of that, I will be back down in Miami for my brother's wedding!  So....time is kind of running out! Lol

Have a great Thursday!

Thursday catch-up

Happy Thursday!

Today is actually my Friday (yay!) because tomorrow morning I fly back down to Miami for one of my best friend's wedding!  This is going to be a beautiful wedding and I can't wait to see her walk down the aisle!  She is my oldest friend and we used to "dream" about our weddings since we were little girls.  I was so happy to have her stand up at my wedding....I can't believe its her turn now!

Megan and I at my wedding
I also will have some much needed time with my mom hanging out, so I'm very much looking forward to that!

On another note, in just 5 weeks we will be moving to our new house which is exciting and overwhelming at the same time!  There is still so much that needs to be packed up in our house....not to mention ANOTHER flight down to Miami in there for my brother's wedding this time!  Its going to be a crazy 2 months.  I just can't wait to be settled into our new home and I can let the decorating begin!

I still have not made any decorating decisions yet....I'm going to just move into the house and once we're there, I'll figure out what new stuff to buy.

Anyone have any good moving advice for me?  :)

Have a great weekend and I'll be back Monday with hopefully some pics from the wedding!
