The Day I Got To Be A Model

A few posts ago, I mentioned that I had done a Marie Antoinette inspired wedding photo shoot in October of last year.  Well.....here it is.  I will explain!

I met a WONDERFUL photographer through a friend of mine named Tracy Abston.  Her photography company is called Pictures by Tracy and seriously, she is the sweetest, most talented lady ever!  I ended up meeting her because I did a boudoir session for my hubby as a wedding gift and our mutual friend highly recommended her!  Well, those pictures turned out beautiful....seriously words cannot describe and from that moment on, I was Tracy's biggest fan!  Turns out she liked me too (who doesn't?) and asked if I'd do a wedding shoot with her after my wedding was over.  I said sure, because who doesn't want to be a model for a day?!  Well, this small shoot snowballed into some much bigger!  Multiple vendors came on, and soon enough we had a full on photo shoot capturing all aspects of this "wedding".  They used the inspiration of a modern day Marie Antoinette and hoped to get recognized on a popular wedding blog called Style Me Pretty.

Unfortunately, we did not get recognized but soon enough another wedding blog called Classic Bride picked up our shoot!  You can view the blog post here! I know a wedding magazine was thinking about picking up our shoot, but I'm not sure what the outcome of that was.  Anyway, it was just a totally fun and inspirational shoot!  I loved every minute of being a model, especially when Tracy is the photographer!  In just 2 weeks, Tracy and I are collaborating for another shoot, along with the make-up artist (Michelle Richardson) and hair stylist (Alan Leonardo) so stayed tuned for that!!!  In the meantime I'll leave you with some of the MANY pictures from our shoot!  And yes, that is my hubby as the "groom"......through a lot of convincing and batting of my eyes, I convinced him to be the groom in our shoot.  Well, I actually just told him that I'd be making out and pretending I was in love with a HOT male model if he didn't do it.......seriously.  That's what I said. :)

Hope you enjoyed all the pictures!  Would you ever do something daring for your wedding like having Marie Antoinette hair?

Man vs. Food

The most exciting thing Doc and I did this weekend was......see Adam Richman from Man vs. Food at our local grocery store, Giant Eagle Market District!  Well this isn't just a normal grocery store...its got everything!  They have a huge cafe area with a gelato, waffles, pizza, sandwich, smoothie, coffee, rosti, asian, indian, etc. stations!  I could go on and on, the store is seriously crazy!  There are only 4 Market District's in the U.S. right now, and they have a whole cooking area so they bring in celebrity chefs to do cooking demos and what not.

Anyway, it was really cool meeting Adam Richman!  I've never met a celebrity before, and he was really down to Earth!  We had awesome seats.....front row center so he totally was looking at us while he was talking and then later thanked us for our "positive energy" because we laughed at all his jokes and what not.  He cooked greek style lamb burgers, which we all got to try and it was really good!  I'm not a lamb eater but I decided to try it, and surprisingly liked it!  We later got his autograph and bought his book.  I'm looking forward to reading it and finding out how he started.  Doc and I aren't like HUGE Man vs. Food fans but we watch it when its on TV and we sometimes write down places he's eaten at so we can go there one day.  Here are some pics of him that I snapped:

We spent the rest of the weekend with the in-laws, just hanging out!  We ate very well (as always when we visit either of our parents)....we had lobsters Sunday night and a cook out today.  Also came home with lots of great food and sweets, so all in all it was a great long weekend!

How was everyone else's Memorial Day weekends?

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  I've had such a busy weekend, so I'll be back to my usual posting tonight or tomorrow.  I know I've been MIA but I got lots to tell you!  I'm currently outa town visiting the in-laws, so once I get home, I can post some pictures of our fabulous weekend!  Hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day!

Happy Belated Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday and I rang in my 24th year of life with.......well working.....and seeing the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie!  I've loved all of the movies in this series, and the new one (On Stranger Tides) was pretty good!  For me, it wasn't AS good as the others (I missed having Kiera Knightly and Orlando Bloom in it) but it was still a good, fun movie.  And Johnny Depp didn't disappoint, but no surprise there!

  Oh, hey there baby...

As I mentioned in my last post, Doc took his boards on Monday!  For those of you who aren't familiar, it was step 1 of the medical boards and a huge deal because it will basically help determine what specialty you end up going into based on how well you do.  Since Doc, for now, is thinking about going into Orthopedic Surgery he has to do really well since its uber competitive.  So, for the last 6 weeks he has been studying non-stop, but now since he took them on the earlier side, he has quite a few weeks of vacation!  Phew, so glad that's over with!  Not that I was the one who put in all the work BUT it sure is great to have my husband back!  Instead of coming home and finding him depressed and buried in a book, I find him smiling on the couch!  Its the little things right?

So since he took the boards Monday, we ended up going to dinner at The Melting Pot on Monday night to celebrate him being done and my birthday!  It was soooo good!  We love Melting Pot.  We have the cookbook and have been going there for special occasions since the beginning of our relationship.  Not so healthy, but oh so good!

Weekend Update

I've had such an enjoyable weekend!  Yesterday, I shopped and today I laid out by the pool and ran a few errands....we've had such a great weather here in Ohio!  Loving the sunshine!

Tuesday is my birthday so I received my parents gift in the mail on Friday (I don't believe in waiting to open presents) and I got makeup!  My mom also sent me her old Clarisonic because she got a new one (score for me) so wow, let me tell you, that thing is amazing to clean your face with!  Does anyone have a Clarisonic?  If not, its totally worth the money to get one.  My face has never felt so smooth and clean!

Anyway, back to the makeup.....I got Dior Addict lip stick.  LOVE IT!  Its made to change colors depending on the person its on and its super shiny!  Very hydrating as well.

I also got Sephora's Smokey Eyes Palette.  I haven't used it yet, but I can't wait!  I'll give an update once I do.  It comes with instructions for what to use when and how.  It seems easy...we'll see if it looks like it should!

And lastly, I got 2 different eye shadows by the Sephora Collection.  I haven't used those either yet, but I've heard the Sephora brand eye shadows are great!  I'll let you know.

I also did some shopping yesterday (as I mentioned) since I had birthday money from my generous in-laws soo I finally got my Lululemon Wunder Under Crops! (See my recent post on them here)  Yay! Can't wait to use them this week in Yoga.  I also bought a cute dress in Express for summer.  I couldn't find a picture of it online though.  I'll post a picture of me at some point in it.  Then lastly, I got these really cute wedges in Nordstrom by Steve Madden!

I'm a little annoyed because I wanted them in black and the sales lady told me they didn't make them in black, but what do ya know, I look online and they have them in black!  I was just a little afraid that the white parts would get dirty but I'll just be extra careful.  I think I like them in white better now anyway!  As mentioned earlier, I need FLAT sandals but I just couldn't resist these!  They look so cute on and I don't have any white wedges, so still on the hunt for cute flats.....

Hope you all are having a great rest of the weekend!  Doc takes the boards tomorrow (eeek!), so we are going to the Melting Pot tomorrow to celebrate it being over as well as my birthday the next day!  He has been studying for the last 6 weeks for this, about 13 hours a day soooo we will both glad its over!  Now let just cross our fingers that he does amazingly well! :)

Hilarious Baby Video

Well the world didn't end today...that's good because I went shopping today and I'd really like to wear all the things I got!  Post to come soon with all the goodies I found (and I wasn't being bad...it was guilt fee shopping because my birthday is next week and I received money and gift cards from family).

Anyway, there are a lot of funny baby videos floating around the internet, but this one is by far my favorite!  It never gets old....I've watched it so many times and its still just as funny.  I hope my kids do things like this! LOL Enjoy!

Guest Posting: What's In Her Bag?

I am so excited because today we have a guest blog from my oldest best friend, Megan, of Meg's Big Move!  Wanna know what's in her bag?  Without further ado, I give the floor to Megan....

Hi all, thanks for taking a look. For starters, this is my take to work, take to everywhere bag. The bag is Gucci, recently bought from my friend Lynett. The selling factor on the bag was the red and green bow on the side.  Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with anything that has a bow on it, I also happen to love when Gucci uses the classic green and red color scheme.  Let's look inside:

  1. I took a Glamour magazine I read on the plane to leave in the work kitchen, but took the Ulta coupon out first-I doubt I'll use it.
  2. Bobby Brown gel eyeliner-don't wear this on weekdays, this needs to go back in my makeup bag
  3. Clinique concealer-for disguise when I need it most.
  4. Aveda lip tint- IMO, Aveda's makeup is underrated-this has SPF and a pretty pink color (makeup artist put it on my for my sister's wedding)
  5. Bobbi Brown lipstick- should also put this back in my makeup bag, it's meant for nights out
  6. Tampons- you think I have enough? It may or may not be that time of the month :)
  7. Car keys- my mother and I bought the needle point monkey key chain for my brother, I think he thought it was too girly, I don't think it is girly enough, but I have had it on for over a year.
  8. Bow necklace-Lynett bought this for me for x-mas :) She is a great gift giver!!!
  9. Vera Bradley sunglasses
  10. Clinique eyeshadow in choco-latte-your basic shimmery browns, I use this only when I am looking extra homely in the a.m.  I leave this decision to be made in the parking garage at work.
  11. Sally Hansen pale pink nail polish-I am trying to stop biting my nails, keeping them polished is the only thing that works for me
  12. Aveeno hand cream- oh yea, hand cream also helps.  I like to put it on when I am bored at work.
  13. Tarte cheek stain in true love
  14. Aveeno tinted moisturizer- LOVE this product.  I have bought it over and over, and for me to say that means A LOT!
  15. Wallet- I need a new one STAT!
  16. Lilly Pulitzer panda makeup bag-  contains more tampons (promise I am not a crazy person) and more makeup that I don't wear to work.   However, it does have my favorite blush, Lorac's-Desire and MAC's studio fix powder foundation which has helped me through several moments of desperation.

What a mess! I definitely need to clean out the makeup in there and let the ladies at work know that if anyone needs a tampon, I've got plenty!  A special thank you to Ashley for featuring Meg's Big Move on her lovely blog.

PS: Ashley is my oldest girlfriend :) Isn't that special? I have no doubt in my mind we will still be chit chatting when we are pushing 80. Love you girl!  Oh yea, Ashley's new last name (she is a newlywed) is the same as Muffins (check out my blog to find out who he is)...I think that is SUPER special :)

Thanks Megan!

Here Comes the Bride: The Dress

I got married last summer, and for the year and a half I was engaged, I was OBSESSED with weddings!  Ok, the obsession started much before that.....and still hasn't gone away...BUT what girly-girl doesn't like a day all about them?.....and their hubby too. Yea, yea, won't forget about him. :) Anyway, I'm starting a little mini-series here called "Here Comes the Bride" for my bride-to-be readers.  Today's topic: THE DRESS.

Does anyone watch Say Yes to The Dress?  I watched/watch it all the time....and let me tell you, with every episode, I re-thought my dress choice because I'd find one on TV that I thought was better!  Have any of you gone through that?  Probably.  For me, picking my dress was actually pretty easy.  I visited about 3 different stores and I found my dress early on in that hunt.  I was looking for something unique, no cookie cutter wedding dress for me and this dress just stood out and I couldn't stop thinking about it!  It was a Pronovias dress from their Spring/Summer 2009 collection.  I liked the Spanish flare it had, and really I loved that the whole bottom was ruffles because it looked like I was walking on clouds from behind.  The top was completely fitted with lots of crystals and pearls, with a sweetheart neckline.  Here are a few pics:

I also ended up doing a photo shoot a few months after my wedding where I wore my wedding dress for a Marie Antoinette inspired shoot.  BUT that's a post for another time!  Here's a sneak peak picture:

Photo by Tracy Abston of Pictures by Tracy

ANYWAY, while I loved my dress....I still feel like there are other dresses I could have worn that might have been even prettier.  Is that  bad?  Normal?  OCD?  Ok.  Here are some of the other styles I've seen on TV and online that I think I could have worn:

This is a Pnina Tornai dress from her 2011 Collection.  Ok, take away all the ugly accessories, and I'm loving this dress!

I have always loved this dress from Bride Wars (the one Kate Hudson wore!).  It is a Vera Wang dress, not sure what collections its from.  I would liked a different color ribbon around the waist though...maybe pink!

Here's another Pnina Tornai from her 2010 Collection.  This dress has been on Say Yes to the Dress a bunch.  I love all the crystals on the front!

My boobs would never look like that in this dress, but I love how flattering this dress is!  It is another Pnina Tornai, not sure what collection.  I keep trying to find this one dress I saw on Say Yes to the Dress that is similar, but I can't find it....Anyway, loving this dress!

And finally..................................this keeper from Priscilla of Boston!  LOL jk!  How ugly huh?

So, while the dress choice can VERY hard for some women, I didn't have a hard time finding and making up my mind on the dress.  It wasn't until after the wedding that I went, wait....maybe I should have worn this or that?  But I guess it is a couple years later now, your tastes change and the trends change.  I say go for whatever is speaking to you and don't worry about the "classicness" of it....all of our dresses will be hideous when our children get married! :)

Are any of you currently searching for your wedding dresses?  Any of you go through the same emotions I went through?

ASOS

One of my favorite online shopping websites is ASOS!  I think I came across it in one of my fashion magazines earlier this year.  It think it was started in the UK and they just recently launched their US website, but I just love how all of their items are unique.  I don't know about you, but I get so bored sometimes with what I find in stores.  Maybe its the European influence, but I love the different styles they bring to the table.....AND at good prices!  I mean you'll definitely find expensive designer clothing on here, but the ASOS brand stuff isn't too expensive and very cute!  I can't say I've actually bought anything from them, BUT I will at some point.... :)

LOVE this dress.

Great summer dress!

LOVSIES the back of this shirt:

Love the color of these pants!

There are soo many items I love, I could go on and on!  Have you ever shopped on ASOS?
