My Trip to Niagara!

Hey there!  I'm finally back from a wonderful vacation with my Mom to Niagara Falls and Toronto!  We had a great time...

We started out on Friday driving up to Bath, NY where my Mom's cousin lives.  He lives on one of the Finger Lakes (I can't remember which one), and it was beautiful!  We stayed the night there and the next morning we drove into Niagara, which was about an hour away.  The drive was beautiful....very scenic and hilly!  When we got to the border of Canada and New York, I freaked out because I realized that I never changed my name on my passport!  I was OMG, they're not going to let me in...they'll think I'm a terrorist or something and I'll be black-listed...

I, thankfully, was wrong and the guy at the border never said a word about my name.  Phew!  So on we went, and found our hotel and settled in.  We got ready for dinner, ate at an amazing italian restaurant and then gambled a little in the casino!  I won $20 at one point...but lost it.  We only played with a little bit of money and since we didn't win anything, we left.  We then walked along the falls and that was really beautiful!  They shine lights on them at night, so it was very cool, but FULL of people so we left soon after.

The next morning, we got up and went on the Maid of the Mist boat (they take you down into the Falls...right up next to them!) and that was very cool!  Definitely a highlight of the trip.

We enjoyed our day and then went out to a nearby town called Niagara-on-the-Lake, where they have tons of wineries.  We hopped from winery to winery and loved it!  In the Niagara region, they have Ice Wine which is basically dessert wine.  When winter sets in, the grapes freeze, so when they juice them (or whatever its called) the flavor is very concentrated...making it taste like dessert wine.  I really liked it!  Very fruity and if you pour some champagne in with it, its amazing!  We then stumbled upon this cute little street where there were lots of stores and restaurants so we walked around there, and then drove around by the lake (Lake Erie).

On our last full day there, we decided to drive to Toronto which was only about an hour and a half away and we went to Casa Loma first!  Casa Loma is a castle, and it was really cool!  We took a tour of the house with audio headsets and it was interesting to hear about all the different rooms/history.  I'm not a big history buff, nor am I really interested in museums but this I found interesting...mostly.  Probably because it was a castle....ok, for sure because it was a castle but whatever! :) Here are some pics of my future home...

I like Toronto!  To me, it seemed like a mix of Chicago and New York (atleast the downtown part).  It was right on the water like Chicago but had a New York feel to it.  We drove around a bit but decided not to get out and walk around, so we drove back towards Niagara Falls.  We ended up stopping in Niagara-on-the-Lake again and having dinner in that cute area we were in the night before.  It was perfect!

Then today, we got up uber early, and drove back to Columbus (no problems with my passport on the way back over!)  It wasn't too bad of a drive back...shorter than the way up since we'd gone to my Mom's cousin's house.  We had lunch and then she flew back to Miami!  Great ending to a great trip!  Here are a few more pics from the vacay:

Don't mind my raccoon eyes from all the water that got on us on the boat...

My very mature mother wanted me to take this pic... :)

I will be busy catching up on all the blog reading I missed!  Have a great rest of the week!

Please Excuse my Absence

Happy Friday everyone!

Quick post!  I will be leaving today for a fun filled weekend in Niagara Falls with mi madre!  I will be back on Tuesday night soo please excuse my absence.  :)

Update: I got those green GAP jean leggings in the mail yesterday (previously mentioned here and here), and they're no bueno.  I think I got a size too small, but I think even if I went up a size...they're just too tight!!  I think I'd prefer a pair that were less "legging-y" (not a word, but you get me right?) and more like skinny jeans.  And the waist comes up higher than I care for, AND they're too long!  Ugh, disappointing. Anyway, back they go.

P.S. Not sure why I'm speaking in Spanish selectively today...its Friday... Have a great weekend everyone!

Trip to Niagara Falls this weekend!

Good morning everyone!

I hope everyone's week is going well....mine is going....very slowly.  BUT, I'm very excited because my Mom is coming to visit me today!  She's flying up here tonight and we are going to go to Niagara Falls this weekend!  A little much needed girls weekend, just the two of us!  We both have never been to the Falls before but we of course have heard wonderful things about it, so I'm looking forward to the trip very much.  While we're up there, we are also going to drive into Toronto because its only about 45 minutes away.  I have never been to Canada either, so this will be a weekend of a lot of firsts for me!  I will definitely take lots of pictures, so keep your eye out for that post next week!  For now, here are some pictures of the GORGEOUS Falls that I will be visiting:

Good thing my Mom is flying up here today because Hurricane Irene will be right by Miami tomorrow!  What's with all these natural disasters right now?  Hurricanes and earthquakes... Hope everyone is safe!

Any special plans for this weekend?

Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday everyone!

I will be a little MIA this weekend, as Hubby and I will be going to Dayton to visit his family!  So please excuse my absence...

In the mean time, here are my Friday Favorites!

1.  I finally bought those amazing green jean leggings from GAP this morning!  They were first on sale for 25% off, I resisted.  Then yesterday they went on sale for 30%, I still resisted.  Then today they went on sale for 40% off, and I gave in.  It's like GAP was mocking me.  I patiently waited, and they were almost half the price so I finally said what the heck and bought them!  I super excited for them to come in because I'm not sure how they are going to fit!  Crossing my fingers I dont have to exchange or return them!

2.  I just started reading Water for Elephants and I'm loving it so far!  I have been wanting to read this book for awhile now, and a friend at work finally gave me her copy.  I also really wanted to see the movie, so I'm glad I waited!

3.  My favorite grocery store is in Dayton called Dorothy Lane Market.  They have amazing everything!  It's a small grocery store but all their homemade food and baked goods are to die for.  My all time favorite thing to get there are a like million Laura's Cookies!  They are the best iced sugar cookies ever (they have almond extract in them...mmmm). I would be so fat if there was a Dorothy Lane Market close to me...also broke because its not the cheapest place...but definitely a highlight of going home to visit the in-laws!

4.  I'm loving the coral and turquoise color schemes in these bedrooms!

5.  I work out a lot at home in front of the TV.  I do a lot of workout videos because they're really convenient and sometimes a better workout for me rather than going to the gym!  With our cable company, we get Exercise TV which is great because I have access to all these different workout videos for free!  I don't always want to buy them because, inevitably, I get sick of the darn video within a couple months!  I just discovered Jillian Michaels Metabolism Boost video and I love it!  I have not been able to get through the whole video yet because I get sooo tired...its about an hour video...but such a good workout!  She does a ton of different circuits and they're all like running or jumping....for an hour....that's enough for me!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Francesca's Collections Jewlery

Have you ever been to a Francesca's Collections store?  I remember the first time I went into one, it was in Chicago years ago and I was in heaven!  They have the BEST accessories for great prices!  I was very happy when I moved here to Columbus and found a couple around town.  They also sell clothes, shoes, and lots of random cute things...I definitely recommend spending some time in this store the next time you see one!

The best thing about Francesca's is the jewelry, so here are my fav's at the moment! P.S. They have way more pieces in store than online! P.P.S. They are running a sale online for buy 1, get 1 50% off! :)

Damn You Auto Correct!

Happy Monday everyone!

Hope everyone's weekends were relaxing and fun!  Mine was...didn't do very much....slept in...watched a lot of TV...saw the movie 30 Minutes or Less (funny!)...hung out with one of Hubby's friends...spent too much time on Pinterest....Lol

Anyway, in the spirit of it being Monday...I thought I'd post some of these HILARIOUS auto-correct fails because we call could use a laugh, right?  (Clearly, I also spent way too much time on damnyouautocorrect.com as well....)

 Enjoy!

LOL! Oh, I can sit and read these for hours...
