Happy Friday!

TGIF!

I took the boots out today for the first time!  Its pretty cold today and its going to be super cold this weekend (40s...) so I guess we're really doing this.....its really getting cold. I mean, I've been excited for Fall but somehow I keep denying the fact that Summer its actually over. Maybe the heat will come back and we can hold out a little longer?  Maybe?  I just dread the winter...it basically ruins Fall for me. I only like the snow during Christmas....after that, it needs to go.  But of course it doesn't............not for like 4 more long months.... Ok, I'm done complaining now :)

ANYWAY, I have a little bit of a brain dump for you today. First, can we take a sec to admire how gorgeous Lauren Conrad's hair looks in this pic?!  I love her and I need this hair!

Second, I'm loving the fact that glitter and sequins are big right now!  As you should already know, I love me some glitter (mentioned here, here, and here) so I'm looking forward to bring it out and buying some new pieces.  What do you think of this super cute Zara sequin clutch I found through Stripes & Sequins?

Third, this is an amazing laundry room, no?  It would totally make doing laundry not so bad! I especially love all the apothecary jars on the counter!

While we're talking home decor.....take a look at this baby!  No idea, where it is or whose it is but its amazing right??  Yes, my future home...I'll tell hubby to get on that. The more I look at this, the more it looks like a computer generated image...either way its amaze-balls! :)

Last but not least, I am just loving all the TV I've been watching lately! The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has been drama-licious which is always good!  Its been nice seeing Camile and Kyle getting along this season, and what is up with Kim??? She is a drunky for sure! And Adrienne and Paul bicker so much--its so annoying! I've always thought those two don't seem very "in love"....and Lisa seems to be the trouble maker this season.  Do you think she leaked that info about Taylor to the press? And I won't even get started on Taylor....

Giuliana & Bill are about to start IVF for the 3rd time and its just so sad to watch them being all positive saying its going to work this time and knowing that it didn't because Giuliana is not pregnant right now.  It kind of ruins the show a bit knowing ahead of time that things will either work or not work.  I so wish she would get pregnant but it seems like that's not going to happen....I wonder if they've started looking into adoption yet? They're getting old....

Hubby and I just started watching the New Girl with Zoey Deschanel and I really like it! She so cute and quirky...the role fits her very well!  We'll see if it continues to go well..

I missed last nights episode of Project Runway so I will be watching that this weekend!  I love this show....I think it would be so hard to be a designer on the show.  I'm also super excited because they announced they're doing an all star season next! P.S. my fashion design class that I'm taking is going well! More on that later!

What are you all doing this weekend? Watching any good shows?

Apple Picking!

Hello there!

I wanted to give you a quick weekend recap because I did something very new and exciting......APPLE PICKING!  This weekend was great because Doc didn't have to work at all, so we had the whole weekend to ourselves!  We slept in on Saturday (We slept for 12 hours! Told ya I like to sleep...) and then we went apple picking!

Doc and I have both never been apple picking and I've always wanted to go, so this was the perfect weekend to do it!  We went to Lynd's Fruit Farm out in Pataskala, Ohio and it was very busy.  They had Golden Delicious, Jonathan, and Jonagold apples for us to pick so we got a big bag of them (and you pay per bag so you can fit as many apples into the bag as you want), so we came home with......30 apples!  I don't know what I'm gonna do with all of them! Probably bake my little heart out...

Anyway, we also went to their little market and bought apple butter, cinnamon and pear jam, and a dutch peach pie! Here are a few pics of us:

The rest of the weekend was spent catching up on TV shows and watching movies! And can't forget football Sunday...Doc is a big Green Bay Packer fan so he had one of his friends over for dinner and to watch the game who is also a Packer fan so I had both of them yelling in my ears all night!  At least it was a good outcome because that meant I didn't have a depressed and angry husband the rest of the day/week...

How were your weekends? Have any of you ever been apple picking?

Emmys Worst Dressed

Good morning lovelies!

Whoops, sorry....I promised you this Emmys Worst Dressed post for yesterday but the day totally got away form me! My apologies....I know you're all heart broken. Important stuff here....

Anyway, on with it! Here are my worst dressed ladies from the night:

First up, Ms. Gwyneth Paltrow in a midriff baring Pucci dress. This dress really wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for that awkward and ugly midriff! It makes her look like she has a role of fat, and we all know shes far from that...so yea, just not flattering.

Here we have Julianna Margulies from The Good Wife in a white Armani Prive gown.  I was just not a fan of the overall fit of this gown and those dots on the bodice looked more like pimples to me.

Next, we have Taraji P. Henson in a Blumarine gown. This dress just has multiple problems, but the biggest being it does nothing for her! It is completely shapeless and has a very unflattering neckline.

Oy vey, where to begin with this next one.  Paz de La Huerta (from Boardwalk Empire) showed up looking like she just came off the set of a zombie movie.  She wore a pretty pale pink gown with a high side slit (I can't find the designer of the dress anywhere), so the dress itself wasn't bad....it was that make-up and hair!  Besides the gallons of fake tanner she poured on herself, her lipstick was a dark grey/blue-ish color and her hair was bed head to the extreme! She just looked wacked out!

Next, we have Amy Poehler in a Peter Som glittery blue gown that was wayyyy too tight on her!  I would by no means categorize Amy as "heavy", but this dress sure makes her look like she is! I know she just had a baby, so naturally she still has some of the baby weight on her but why then, would you choose THIS dress??  Throughout the whole night, I kept yelling at the TV (or really at Amy) for this terrible dress choice! Those sleeves are about the worst thing you can do for your arms and the dress is soo tight around her tummy...it makes her look like she's still preggo! Awful!

Last but not least, we have Katie Holmes in this little Calvin Klein number.  Ok, its not an ugly dress but would you really where this on the red carpet?  I would wear that to dinner with my hubby...or maybe to a baby shower! But the RED CARPET? It was just too casual and.....blah.

Do you agree with these Worst Dressed ladies?  Do you have any others to add because I'm sure I've missed a few!

Emmys Best Dressed

Warning: this is a really long post...sorry!

Did any of you watch the Emmys last night?  I caught most of it....especially the Red Carpet pre-show on E!  Love Guilianna and Ryan!  Anyway, you all know I watch LOTS of TV so the Emmys were a bit more interesting to me since I knew most of the shows being nominated.

Modern Family cleaned house in the Comedy category which came as no surprise to me.....that show is hilarious! I can watch episodes over and over again and they're still just as funny!!  I was a little sad to see Dexter didn't win any drama awards....but who can compete with Mad Men in the same category??  Confession.....I have not actually watched a single Mad Men episode but I WANT TO!!  Hubby and I are waiting for the in-laws to finish Season 1 on DVD and then we'll start watching it.

But seriously....we watch sooo many fickin TV shows!  Here's a little run down of what we have recording now and this Fall on our DVR: Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, Desperate Housewives, Dexter, The Office, Community, Jerseylicious (yes, Hubby likes this show!), Keeping Up with the Kardashians (yup, got him to watch this show too)....and then I alone watch Project Runway, Guiliana and Bill, Real Housewives of everything.......and then he alone watches South Park, Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad, etc. etc...... Yea....we're nutzzzz!

Anyway, back to the real reason for my posting today (come on, Ashley. Get it together.).....the Fashion from the Emmys last night!  Now, I wasn't completely wow'd with the fashion overall but it wasn't bad by any means!  We'll go over the best dressed today and tomorrow, I'll give you my worst dressed...

Ladies in RED:

My FAVORITE from the night!!!  Nina Dobrev (from The Vampire Diaries) looked AH-MAZING in this Donna Karen jaw dropping dress!  This hugged her body in all the right places and the bottom of her dress.....!!!

Lea Michelle (from Glee) in a pretty Marchesa low back gown!  Love the dress.....just don't love her.  I'm just not a Glee fan and there's something about her I don't like....but that's neither here nor there when we're discussing fashion! P.S. Did you know that Marchesa refused to dress more than one person for the Emmys and they wouldn't tell anyone who that one person was? I bet Lea made them promise not to dress anyone else....sounds like something she would do....

Now on to "The Sexiest Woman on the Face of this Planet" according to my dear husband who must have stated this at least 3 times last night. Of course he added the "besides you" at the end.... Uh, huh.  Sure. Anyway, Sofia Vergara was stunning in her Vera Wang one shoulder gown.  Her jewels were even more amazing!

I thought Kate Winslet looked absolutely beautiful in this Elie Saab red dress! The cap sleeves and train were beautiful touches, yet the dress is so simple! I loved her hair as well.  Well done girl!

And finally, Kerry Washington looked equally stunning in her Zuhair Murad red strapless dress!  I love how the bottom half is see through, and the detailed edge along the bottom is gorgeous!

There were MANY more ladies who wore red, just too many to do a post about!  On to some of my other favorites:

Heidi Klum paid homage to to Project Runway with a design by Christian Siriano (Season 4 winner!) I love the fact that she wore one of "their" designers and not a larger fashion house. I thought this dress was very fun and different!

I loved Zooey Deschanel in a fun Monique Lhuillier pink ball gown!  I mean, come on people, she's quirky so this was totally fitting for her.  The orange sash paired with the pink is very trendy right now, yet very Monique Lhuillier.  I really loved the way she did her hair and eye make-up too! 10 from me!  Sorry, I couldn't find a better picture of her....

Evan Rachel Wood looked beautiful in a simple, sequin black Elie Saab gown!  That silouette looks great on her....and you can't see it in the picture, but the dress has a low back as well.

I loved Colbie Smulders in this blue Alberta Ferreti goddess-like dress! That blue is just stunning against the red carpet.  Colbie really set herself apart from the rest with this choice!

Now I have mixed feelings about this next one. I love Julie Bowen and last night she wore a beautiful Oscar de la Renta dress, with a gorgeous plunging neckline BUT I did think she looked a little too skinny in it!  I also was not loving her hair, but I'm still putting her on my best dressed list because this was still a beautiful dress (and with having smaller boobs, it didn't look slutty on her...just the right amount of sexy!)

And finally, we have Christina Hendricks in a Johanna Johnson custom dress, covered in Swarovski crystals and glass beads! She really knows how to work her curves, huh? I'm not going to say anything about the neckline because really, did we expect anything less? I loved the overall design of this dress, but I did think the light color washed her pale skin out a bit.

There were many more who had gorgeous dresses, but these ladies really stood out to me!  Stay tuned for my worst dressed list tomorrow.....

Have a great rest of the day!

Fashion Week Favorites!

Today is the final day of NYC Fashion Week, and what a week its been!  Almost 100 designers have been showing collections for Spring/Summer 2012 to retail buyers, media, and celebrities.

So what trends are we seeing for Spring and Summer?  Looks like color is here to stay...and lots of it!  Really bright, energetic colors were seen all over the runways, with yellow emerging as a favorite!  The other big trend is what they're calling "Urban Sport" or "Athletic Chic".  Designers are using light fabrics such as mesh, neoprene, and parachute and creating designs that can be worn on the street, as well as in the office.  So to sum it up, they're actually creating REAL, WORKABLE pieces. Hooray!

Christian Siriano stuck out as a favorite of mine!

I'm also loving Nicole Miller's Collection:

And loving Monique Lhuillier!

What were your NYC Fashion Week favorites?

Target and a Birthday!

Happy Hump Day!

So, as mentioned yesterday, I made my way to Target to check out the new Missoni Collection and the racks were BARE!  It was crazyyy!  One of the workers told me, there were lines of people waiting outside prior to opening.......and by 8:30 AM everything was basically gone!  I was able to score one item!!  I got the ballet flats seen below:

They're super cute, so I'm very excited about this!  I would have loved to get some of the clothing though.....I hope they re-stock the racks often.  I heard people were buying just tons and tons of it to sell on eBay. Really? I mean these aren't iPads people!

Anyway, on to more important things....today is Doc's birthday!!  He's turning 25 and thinks he's soooo old already.  I'm like really..what's wrong with you?  I've always been the type to get excited about getting older...I guess that will stop at some point though... Anyway, he's already starting the denial about birthdays.  Guess I'll have another 75 years of this.... :)

We're going out to a steakhouse tonight to celebrate, and this weekend we'll do some celebrating with his parents since Sunday is his Dad's birthday.  So HAPPY BIRTHDAY honey!!  I love you and I can't wait to celebrate with you tonight!

Doc being his sexy self :)

Target Website Crashes!

The much anticipated Missoni for Target Collection makes its' debut in stores and online today (yay!!), BUT, has anyone already discovered the little problem?  Looks like the Missoni lovers all over have crashed Target's website! Bad fashionistas!

I logged on this morning to take a gander at what pieces they had (I'm thinking about running over to Target at lunchtime today) and I was like wow, WTF?!  I wonder what the stores are like? Crazy? Like Black Friday cray cray??

Has anyone been to a Target store today or know someone who has?

Updates and More Updates!

Is it seriously already Monday again? Ugh.

Workout update: I'm still going strong with working out in the mornings.  I didn't work out over the weekend (sleeping in is a MUCH bigger priority for me...) but I got up bright and early today and did a workout video! I'm feeling pretty sleeply right now though, but that's expected since I couldn't fall asleep until like 11:30 PM last night (the consequence for sleeping in...) so I'm sure I'll  be crashing early tonight!

I'll use this for motivation on all those sleepy mornings:

Bracelet update: No, I unfortunately have not found my bracelet yet................ (previously mentioned here)

Hair update: So, as I mentioned in my last post....I got my haircut over the weekend.  I think I like it.  Let's back track a minute.

I decided to go to a "stylist in training" at my salon this time.  The haircuts are only $17.50 so I was like umm ok, you can't really beat that!  I wasn't paying that much more for hair cuts before, but it was at a different salon and I have been getting my hair colored by a different stylist at a different salon for some time now, so I didn't want to go back to my old stylist at my old salon since she'd know I've been coloring my hair by someone else.  Following me?  Ok, good.

I don't know why, but I always feel weird about going back to a stylist that I've been "cheating on".  I know it happens all the time though!  Anyway, I wanted to change the style of my hair, not so much the length since I've been trying to grow it out.  I told her to re-cut my side bangs and layer my hair.  She did as she was told, but I think she went a little too cut happy on one side of my head so my side bangs are really thick and the hair just past that is super layered (highest layers around my ear length).  THEN on the other side of my head....the highest layers were chin length.

I did not notice this leaving the salon......once I got home, Doc says to me....umm I think one side is longer than the other.  I was like whattt?!  Then I took a really good look in the mirror, and he was right!  So I immediately called the salon and booked my stylist for the next day.  She was super sweet about it, and fixed it...kinda.  The whole problem to begin with she cut too much on one side....you can't add hair back unfortunately and I didn't want her chopping away on the other side so she just evened the layers out a bit.  Now they match, but I'm not sure how crazy I am about the cut.  I won't go back to this girl.....that's what I get for going to a stylist in training though.  She's still learning, so I knew the cut wasn't going to be perfect.  Here are a few pics:

The side that she went a little chop crazy on:

  From the front:

Other side:
Now that I have a bunch of short layers, you can really see my darker color underneath (I have partial highlights)....not sure how I feel about this...
While I'm super sleepy today, I'm also really excited because on Thursday is my first Pattern Drafting & Sewing class at Columbus College of Art & Design!  As I mentioned here, I really need to take up a hobby....a creative one and I love fashion so I decided to sign up for a class to really learn how to make clothes.  I would loveeeeee to start doing that (and maybe one day have my own line?!?) so its a 12 week course, almost 3 hour classes once a week!  I will definitely keep you updated on my progress there!

Have a great week everyone!
