Penelope's 1 Month Update!

I'm a day late here, but yesterday Penelope turned 1 month old!  I can't believe its been a month, yet at the same time, its been a long month!

Every time I see this fox stuffed animal I feel like saying, "What does the fox say?" LOL
The first 2 weeks after Penelope was born, my mom stayed with me so it was amazing to have her help!  I'm the youngest of 6 kids so I definitely welcomed her advice and know-how with open arms.  I thought 2 weeks sounded like a long time at first, but those 2 weeks flew by and when it was time for her to leave, I couldn't believe it!  I was sad but I thought...I got this. I can handle this!

Well, I think the hardest weeks were 2-3.  I was on my own for the first time with Penelope...all day.  I couldn't leave the house because she wasn't vaccinated yet {and still is not since she doesn't get those until she's 2 months old} so I was just inside the house with her 24/7.  And she started to become a fussy baby during the 3rd week.  She was great before that but all of a sudden she had some bad days where all she did was cry and those turned into bad nights where she kept me up until like 4am crying.

It was a hard adjustment needless to say, but I feel like I got through it!  I still feel like I'm "weathering the storm" since she's only 4 weeks old but I do feel better than I did last week.  I am very lucky that I do have an easy baby {as easy as a baby can be..} She likes her sleep and has only kept us up during the night a handful of times.  I find that she doesn't want to go to bed until late but once I get her asleep....she's good the rest of the night!  She'll wake up for feedings {going 4-6 hours in between them at night now} and she'll go right back to sleep.  I usually don't have to stay up rocking her which is great!

It was a challenge to learn how to keep her awake during the day because I think she was sleeping too much during the day--leading to her staying awake at night.  There's only so much you can do with a newborn to keep them entertained so we play on her playmat and I walk her around the house so she can look around but that's about all you can do.  I'm sooo looking forward to her becoming more interactive!

I've only left the house with her a few times when I've had to but I can't wait until I can take her out more!  I know I can, but I would just feel better if she was vaccinated before I really take her places.  So right now, I'm really chained to my house but whenever John is around or has a day off....I take advantage of that and go to the mall or do my grocery shopping then.  Getting out is key to staying sane for sure!

Oh, we also celebrated Penelope's first holiday and Thanksgiving during this month!  She wore her turkey onesie and basically slept the whole day but here are a couple photos:

Stay tuned for Penelope's newborn photos coming this week!  Hope you all had a great weekend!

Penelope's Birth Story

I cannot believe my sweet Penelope is already going to be 1 month old soon!  Where has the time gone? On the other hand, holy cow...this has been a LONG 1 month!  I knew having a baby was going to be tough, but I feel like until I actually had Penelope-I didn't actually know how tough it would be!  Everyone says it gets better around 6 weeks so I'm just looking towards that right now.  For now, here are the deets with how my labor went down...

On Wednesday, November 6th, I got woken up at 4:45AM by my husband's alarm.  Side note: I don't know why I started calling him Doc on here but I'm going to refer to him by his real name, John, from now on!  Normally his alarm doesn't wake me up, but for some reason it did on this day and once I was up, I realized I was feeling crampy.  I had what felt like mild menstrual cramps, but I wasn't sure if it was just Braxton Hicks contractions so I laid there and waited.  Well 2 hours later, I still could not fall back to sleep and was still having these pains so I decided to just get up and change what I was doing to see if that made the pains go away.  I had my breakfast and sat on the couch and still the pains did not go away so I called John and my mom to let them know what I was feeling.  My mom was like yup, sounds like its the beginnging of contractions! She said go shower and get what you need done now because I think you're having this baby today.

My mom's flight was scheduled for the next day {my due date}, but once she realized what was happening, she promptly changed it to come in that night.  My in-laws live 3 hours away so they had already planned on driving in that day, so I went about my day and prepared to have lunch with them. Once they arrived, John was able to get out of work so we all went to lunch.  At this point, the pains I was feeling had gone away for a couple hours but once we went to lunch, they came back.  They started to get a little stronger and felt like they were coming in waves but they weren't defined enough that I could time them {we tried but they were still too mild}

Around 4:45PM, the pains were definitely getting worse and it was at this point that I was like yea, ok...I'm going into labor!  I called my OB and she was like well, we're really looking for contractions that you can't talk through {which I obviously wasn't having yet} so she told me to go for a walk and call them back in an hour to let them know how I was feeling.  John and I put our coats on and walked around my neighborhood for the next hour.  By the end of our walk, I had to keep stopping every 5 minutes or so because a contraction would come and it was getting painful!  We called my OB back and she was still not totally convinced I was ready but since I live so close to the hospital, she told me to come in anyway and see if I had made any progress.

On Monday of this week, I was 4cm dilated and about 90-100% effaced already so I was sure I had made more progress.  Nope! When I got to the hospital, I went into triage and I was still only 4cm dilated.  My OB asked if I could walk around for another hour or two and then come back.  My contractions were painful at this point but not TOO painful that I couldnt walk around so I said yes, I'll do some walking.

John and I walked around the hospital for the next 45 minutes and let me tell you...I thought my contractions were painful BEFORE? Now they were so bad, I had my head buried into the walls of the hospital, crying....yea now I knew what the OB was talking about!  We headed back up to triage, and I had progressed to 5cm so they finally admitted me and the whole process really got started!

They offered me some pain medication that I promptly took, but it didn't seem to help much {it only made me feel loopy and giggly} so I got my epidural shortly after.  I had always planned to have an epidural so I wanted to make sure I got it before it got too late.  I don't know how some women do this without an epidural!

Once I got the epidural, I was feeling GREAT! I totally lost track of time at this point, but all of a sudden my mom and in laws walked in {which surprised me that they were already there...I thought it was way earlier in the night then it was} so we got to sit and spend some time with them before it was time to push.  Then, I got to pushing and I think I pushed for about 3 hours.  It felt like an eternity until Penelope's head came out.  I was sooooooo exhausted at this point because I had been up since 4:45am and it was around 3am now.  I pushed and pushed and pushed with everything I had and I was really surprised by how much pain I still felt with an epidural!  That was one thing I did not expect!  Penelope finally came out and it was amazing to see her little face on my chest.  She came out with the biggest cry ever and luckily was completely healthy!

In the end, my labor was about 8 1/2 hours which isn't too bad for a first time mom!  My poor mom and in-laws were so tired by the time Penelope was born, but they were troopers and stayed up!

I'll be back with an update on Penelope and how this first month has been!

Welcome to the world...

Welcome to the world Penelope Reese!

Born Thursday, November 7th, 2013
7 lbs, 0.5 ounce - 19.5 inches

We're doing great over here! Got home from the hospital yesterday and we're busy adjusting to life as a family of three! As soon as I have some time, I'll fill you all in on Penelope's birth story and how everything went down.

Until then, I'm totally in love with my new bundle of joy! I might be a little biased but she is just perfect and the most beautiful baby I've ever seen! :)

Nursery Reveal!

Happy Monday everyone!

Well, I had my weekly doctor's appointment today and it looks like I'm 4cm dilated and 90-100% effaced now so I definitely made some progress from last week!  I tried to get the doctor to tell me when she thought I'd give birth, but she played it safe and was like it could it be a couple of hours....it could be a couple weeks.  YES-weeks? I was like no no...don't even talk to me about weeks here!  Lol sooo fingers crossed I have this baby in the next couple days!  With being so progressed, I would be surprised if a week goes by but who knows.

In the meantime, I thought I'd finally give you a treat and post my baby girl's nursery reveal!  You may recall this post from back in June--I was thinking I'd do her nursery in a pink and grey theme. I was all on track for that when I found a fabulous rug on RugsUSA.com during their July 4th sale.  It was 70% off and I couldn't take my eyes off of it and I knew that was it!  That was going to be the center of my inspiration for this room! The room is small so it was hard to take a lot of pictures in it.  Without further ado, here is her nursery:

Taken from the doorway

The card in the mirror is my baby shower invitation. I might frame it and hang it somewhere or just find a special place for it!

The reading corner. It looks so empty right now but we have more books coming from my mom and from my in-laws!

I wanted you to see the chandelier! I love this piece! It transforms the room.

Nursery source list:
Since I took these pictures, I made some small changes to the changing table.  I got a cute diaper caddy from Pottery Barn Kids and I now have all my things organized in there.  I've also added some more stuffed animals around the room.

I hope you like the nursery!  This is the first room I've done, top to bottom so I'm very excited about it!  I love pink so I couldn't resist using a lot of pink in her room but I tried not to make it super "baby-ish". I wanted the room to have a classy, glamorous feel to it and I think I accomplished that.  These pictures don't seem to do the room much justice but I can't invite you all over here to see it for yourselves! :)

Now, keep your fingers crossed and hope that the next time you hear from me....I will be announcing the arrival of my baby girl!

39 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 39 weeks! Are we there yet?!

Baby is the size of? Still a watermelon {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}.

Maternity clothes? I'm too far along to even answer this question right now lol! Can you tell based on my pic above I've given up on looking cute?

Stretch marks? None on my belly at all but I have a few minor ones on my boobs {they weren't ever supposed to be big LOL}. I'm Still using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion every night and I use regular body lotion every morning after my shower.

Labor Symptoms? I'm not having any Braxton Hicks contractions but still have some pubic bone pressure.  I'm 2cm dilated now but still about 50% effaced so I'm making progress!

Sleep? I've been getting soo hot at night, its been annoying and my nose has been congested which is also annoying when your trying to sleep! Still waking up one to two times a night to pee but other than that, I'm sleeping pretty well.

Best moment of the week? As I said above, I had my doctor's appointment earlier this week and I'm 2cm dilated now and still about 50% effaced so I'm making progress slowly but surely!  Its crazy that I'm 1 week away from my due date...I just HOPE I don't go past my due date! Fingers crossed she makes her arrival next week.  I have my next appointment on Monday so I'll find out if I'm still progressing or not.

Miss anything? Alcohol, fresh squeezed orange juice, sleeping on my stomach, bending over easily...

Movement? I got a little nervous this past weekend because I didn't feel her move very much.  I had to really poke her to get her to move but thankfully by Sunday night, she was moving up a storm so I think she was just sleeping!  Since then she's been moving around pretty regularly...sometimes it feels like she's doing pushups on my cervix lol

Food cravings? None.

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope!

Have you started to show yet? Um, do I even need to answer this question? Lol

Baby is a? GIRL!

Belly button in or out? Its officially an outie now.

Wedding rings on or off? Off for now...I haven't been going out very much so I haven't had to put them on but my wedding band is still very tight when I try to put it on.

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Baby's arrival!  I'm trying not to get myself too anxious because I don't want to get frustrated every day when nothing happens but I'm getting so excited for her to be here and knowing its sooo soon and soo close is killing me!  Patience is not something I'm good at haha

By the way, I know I promised you a nursery reveal and then I never posted that so SORRY!  I added some new things to the nursery since I took the pics so I wanted to update them before I post the reveal.  I will get that posted soon, I promise! :)

1 year..

Just 1 year ago today, I said goodbye to my Dad.

Its hard to believe its been 1 year since he's left us.  It feels like just yesterday, but at the same time, an eternity since he's been here. So much has happened in this past year--so many changes for me and my family but I do believe he's right here with us watching it all happen.

My parents
An old Thanksgiving picture
Walking me down the aisle on my wedding day
My brother and my Dad
Today we remember you, for all the wonderful memories you've given us and for all the love you showed us.  I think about you every single day and I'm inspired each day to live my life in the positive way you always did.  Life is not the same without you here, but I know you're in a better place now. I love you.

38 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 38 weeks! 2 to go...

Baby is the size of? Still a watermelon {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}. I think my app has been off or something...

Maternity clothes? The weather has gotten pretty cold around here so when I'm not just sitting around the house in yoga pants, I'll wear my maternity jeans, maternity tanks or tees, and a cardigan sweater worn open.  I have some big loose sweaters but they won't fit over my bump--but I'm looking forward to getting back into those after the baby is born!

Stretch marks? None so far! Still using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion every night and I use regular body lotion every morning after my shower.

Symptoms? I've been having increasing pressure down low and my pubic bone has been hurting!  My OB said that can be due to them separating in preparation for labor...it also can be due to her head being low now too.  I haven't had any more Braxton Hicks contractions though.

Sleep? Still using my body pillow which helps me get into a comfortable position but its takes me like 5 minutes to roll over every night! Going from one side to the other is a mission! Lol I'm also still dreaming about being able to sleep on my stomach....

Best moment of the week? Well I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and had my first internal exam--looks like I'm 1cm dilated and 50% effaced already and the baby's head is very low {my OB could feel it} so she said for a first time mom, I'm farther along then she would have expected! I'm HOPING that means baby girl will make her appearance earlier than later! I have my next appointment this coming Monday so I'm interested to see if I've made any progress. I know some women can stay slightly dilated for weeks before they give birth so I'm not like expecting her to come early...I just hope that she does! :)

Miss anything? Alcohol, fresh squeezed orange juice, sleeping on my stomach, bending over easily...

Movement? Still feeling her alien-like movements all the time. She also still gets the hiccups all the time--I feel so bad for her.

Food cravings? None.

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope!

Have you started to show yet? Um, do I even need to answer this question? Lol

Baby is a? GIRL!

Belly button in or out? Its officially an outie now.

Wedding rings on or off? Still wearing just my wedding band these days but that's definitely tight on me.

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Baby's arrival!

I FINALLY got the nursery all done so stay tuned for a nursery reveal this week!  Have a great weekend!

37 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 37 weeks! Baby is considered "full term" now so anytime she's ready...we're ready!

Baby is the size of? A watermelon {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes? Oh, I just wear whatever I can fit into nowadays! Lots of leggings and sweaters.

Stretch marks? None so far! Still using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion every night and I use regular body lotion every morning after my shower.

Symptoms? I did develop heart burn a couple weeks ago but it hasn't been much of a problem {thankfully!}, and I had a really bad nose bleed one night so I finally got a humidifier in our room and that has helped quite a bit.  I find I'm not as congested either which has been a pain when your trying to sleep!  Other than that, no new symptoms. If I'm having Braxton Hicks contractions, they're pretty mild because I can't really feel them.

Sleep? Sleep has been pretty good this week!  I still have a hard time falling asleep some nights but once I'm asleep, I'm out so I'm getting pretty solid sleep each night. Trying to soak in all the sleep I can get before baby girl gets here!

Best moment of the week? Hmm, there wasn't really anything in particular this week that stands out! I didn't have a doctor's appointment this week so nothing new on that front.  I guess I'm just excited that I've finally reached 37 weeks and from this point forward, baby girl can be born with little to none complications!

Miss anything? Alcohol and sleeping on my stomach!

Movement? She's gotten so big now that I feel every movement she makes.  She definitely has her feet in my right side because they stick out all the time now! Sometimes her jabs over there hurt but its fun to be able to feel her little feet pocking me!

Food cravings? None.

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope!

Have you started to show yet? Yep....I'm quite large and its hard to believe I'll be getting even larger!

Baby is a? GIRL!

Belly button in or out? Its officially an outie now.

Wedding rings on or off? Still wearing just my wedding band these days but that's definitely tight on me.

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: FINALLY finishing baby girl's nursery!  Doc is going to hang her curtains for me tomorrow and then I just need to purchase some picture frames and the nursery will be done!  Pictures to come very very soon :)

Have a great weekend!

36 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 36 weeks! 4 weeks to go!

Baby is the size of? A watermelon {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Symptoms? Again, still feeling well considering I'm 9 months pregnant now!  I still have energy each day, but I do find I get physically tired when I'm walking a lot or moving around a lot.  I think I'm also having Braxton Hicks contractions now, but its just now and then.

Sleep? Ugh, sleep has not been so great. I have the hardest time falling asleep each night and if I wake myself up enough to pee or when Doc goes to work, its over. I'll be wide awake. I guess its the body's way of preparing for what's about to happen but I hate this insomnia. I just find my brain starts going and going and I can't stop thinking about what I have to do before the baby gets here or just how anxious I am for her to be here! It's hard to quiet that all down.

Best moment of the week? I had my 36 week appointment yesterday and everything went well as usual. Baby girl is doing well...I can't believe we're getting down to the wire with my appointments!  At my next appointment they said they'll start doing my internal exams, so I'm not exactly looking forward to that but I am excited about getting closer to baby's arrival!

This past week, I went to a brunch at my friend's house and got to meet her other "mommy" friends and it was great just hanging out with group of women who are all at the same points in their lives as me. Almost all of them had babies and they were all doctor's wives, so I'm looking forward to getting to know them all better and having a great group to have play dates with! I hear its very important to have other mommy friends, just to have adult time and to lean on each other when life gets hard.

Miss anything? Alcohol and sleeping on my stomach!

Movement? She's still moving up a storm!  Very "rolly" movements, not too many jabs, just movement from one side of my belly to the other.  She still gets the hiccups practically every day!

I've only been wearing my wedding band because if I wear my engagement ring too, its way too tight! The wedding band is getting to be too tight now too so this week I wore a fake ring a few times.

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Continuing to check "to do" items off of my long list! Every day I'm trying to get things done around the house or set up the baby items that are in boxes. For instance, last night I finally got the pack n' play set up in our bedroom so now baby girl will have a place to sleep when we bring her home from the hospital.  I'm also trying to keep up with cleaning and laundry, so I just find every day I go from one task to another! But its all getting done and I'm honestly ready for baby girl to make her appearance whenever!  I'm definitely getting impatient, but I know she needs to stay in there at least another week because 37 weeks is considered "term".  BUT waiting is soooo hard! Haha

What are you all up to this weekend? Doc is working all weekend, so I'll probably be doing what I always do.....going to the mall or getting things done around the house. Have I mentioned how excited I am to buy normal people clothes again? Lol but I'm waiting because I want to make sure I fit into anything I buy and I just don't know what my body will be like after the baby.

Have a great weekend!

35 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 35 weeks!

Baby is the size of? A large cantaloupe {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes? Some of maternity shirts are even a little short on me now!  Since I work from home, I'm basically just in yoga pants and tanks all day long but when I know I'm going out and running errands, I'll put jeans on or some of my maxi dresses {then when I get home, I put the comfy clothes back on!}

Stretch marks? None so far! Still using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion every night and I use regular body lotion every morning after my shower.  I think I may be in the clear now!

Symptoms? Feeling pretty good this week!  Not too much back pain, but still feeling PREGNANT for sure!

Sleep? Sleep has been good, but I still have my restless nights where I can't quiet my brain down and then when I get woken up, I'm up!  So the amount of hours I get have been hit and miss.

Best moment of the week? Had my 35 week appointment yesterday, so I got to hear baby girl's heartbeat again.  Everything is going well, so in just 5 weeks {or less} she will be here!  Like I said last week, I've been nesting like crazy and cleaning/organizing everyday.  Her nursery is coming together little by little, I have just a few finishing touches left to complete and then I'll do a nursery reveal!

Miss anything? Alcohol and sleeping on my stomach!

Movement? She's still moving up a storm!  Very "rolly" movements, not too many jabs, just movement from one side of my belly to the other.  She still gets the hiccups practically every day!

I've only been wearing my wedding band because if I wear my engagement ring too, its way too tight!

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Finishing her nursery!  I need to make decisions on the artwork and then I should have everything complete.  I also have boxes all over the house with different items, so I hope to get them all unpacked, put together, and in its place so that way we're ready to go when she makes her arrival!

Doc has the weekend off so hopefully we can spend some quality time together, as starting very soon, thing will be different!  What are you doing this weekend?

Fall Fashion Obsessions

Happy Sunday everyone!

Now that I'm in my 3rd trimester and only weeks away from delivering my little one....I'M GOING A LITTLE CRAZY!  My preggo insomnia has come back and I can't quiet my brain down at night. I went to bed at 1:30 AM last night and when my husband left for work this morning at 5 AM, I was up and tried soooo hard to go back to bed, but no luck. I was up--despite getting only 4 hours of sleep.

I'm also such a type A planner...I'm in major nesting mode now!  I'm cleaning the house like crazy and trying to put all the baby stuff away and in its place.  I've been washing the baby clothes and organizing the nursery.  There just always seems to be something to do around this place...it's kinda driving me nuts.

Ok, I'm done complaining now!  Moving on.....I was at the mall yesterday and I seriously love fall fashion!  I'm such a fan of summer but I do love the transition into fall {especially living in Michigan where the climate changes}.  I love all the pumpkins and cinnamon candles, sweaters, boots, leggings!  I'm so looking forward to not being pregnant and being able to do normal clothes shopping.  Here are some items I have my eye on:

1. Minus the Leather Moto Jacket from Express

I always wanted a great leather {or faux leather} jacket, but never got one.  I think this will be one of my first buys once I get my body back.  Love the shape of this one from Express and with some coupons, the cost isn't too bad!

2. Multiway Tunic Sweater from Victoria Secret

This is also another item I've had my eye on the last couple years but never bought.  I'm loving the loose big sweater with leggings look right now, so I plan on acquiring quite the collection!  Especially with trying to get my pre-baby body back, I think I'll be wearing lots of loose tops and sweaters for a while!

3. Balek boots from Aldo

I tried these on in store and I have to say they look better on than in this picture.  I actually do not own a pair of flat black boots so I def need to add a pair to my wardrobe!

4. Side Stripe Leggings from Express

I absolutely love these leggings!  The side stripe has a fantastic slimming effect--when the side stripe trend came out, I had just gotten pregnant so I wasn't buying much non-maternity clothes but I love that they came out with the side stripe in a legging!

There is so much more I have my eye on too....I'm like a kid in a candy store right now!  Being able to do normal shopping and wear normal clothes is sooo close....I'm almost there.

What are you eyeing this Fall?

34 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 34 weeks....only 6 weeks to go!

Baby is the size of? A cantaloupe {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes? Oh yes......maternity all the way!

Stretch marks? None so far! Still using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion every night and I use regular body lotion every morning after my shower.

Symptoms? Still feeling the same symptoms as last week....back hurts, ribs hurt {but not as bad as they have been}, swollen hands and feet, etc. Other than that, I'm feeling well though!

Sleep? Sleeping pretty well this week. My back has been better so I've been more comfortable.  Once I'm asleep, I'm out! I only wake up to pee maybe once a night. I'm still dreaming of the day I can sleep on my stomach again though :)

Best moment of the week? We got to see baby girl during our ultrasound this week BUT it wasn't all that exciting because it was hard to make out what anything was!  She's so big now, I couldn't tell what the tech was looking at!  It was good to hear that everything is good with her though since they were concerned she was a little small.  The doctor is not worried so that's a relief!  We also had our hospital tour this past Sunday, so that was very informative.  We got to see where we'll be from when we enter the hospital to when we leave.  I highly recommend to any new moms to do this!

I'm also feeling more "prepared" now because I've been washing baby girl's clothes and putting them away, we've received more gifts in the mail, and I've made some more progress on the nursery--so all things combined have made me feel more and more prepared for her arrival!

Miss anything? Alcohol :)

Movement? She's still moving up a storm!  Very "rolly" movements, not too many jabs, just movement from one side of my belly to the other.  She still gets the hiccups practically every day!

On but getting tight!

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Continuing to get things organized around the house.  I'm in full on nesting mode so cleaning is happening too!  I'm also going to the doctor every week now, so I always look forward to those appointments and hearing baby girl's heart beat.  Just counting down the days now!

Have a great weekend!

33 Weeks Baby Bump Update & Baby Shower!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Sorry I missed last week's 32 weeks update. Things have been crazy recently!  I was in Boston for work, home for 1 day, and then I flew to Miami last Thursday for the weekend because Saturday was my baby shower!  I meant to take a picture that day, but it never happened.  I had a wonderful, long weekend in Miami and the baby shower was great!  I'll tell you more about it below...

How far along? 33 weeks!

Baby is the size of? A pineapple {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes? Oh yes......maternity all the way!

Stretch marks? None so far! Still using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion every night and I use regular body lotion every morning after my shower.

Symptoms? Ugh, this week has been tough. I really feel PREGNANT now!  My back has been killing me, my ribs still hurt, my feet and hands are swollen, and when I walk too long my feet hurt.  Just overall I've been pretty uncomfortable and I still have 7 weeks to go!

Sleep? I wake up every morning and my back kills!  Slowly during the day my back will feel better so I don't know if its the position I'm in or what, but sleeping has been pretty uncomfortable.  Nothing feels good and rolling over from one side to the other takes like 5 minutes! You non-preggos take it for granted! Lol once I'm asleep I'm good though, I don't wake up unless to pee.

Best moment of the week? My baby shower!  My mom, sister, sister-in-law, and a few of my mom's friends all threw me a cute, ballerina themed baby shower in Miami and it was beautiful!  I don't have all the good pictures yet, but here are a couple that we took on our phones:

My mom, sister, and I

My sister and I
You can't really see it in the pictures, but my sister-in-law did the flowers and they were soooo pretty!  There were so many cute details, it really made the room look amazing!  Everyone was so generous and baby girl got lots of cute clothes. It was also so fun being back in Miami and my whole family was there {I'm the youngest of 6 kids so it doesn't happen very often that we're all together}.  The only not fun thing was that the day of the shower was also Doc's birthday so we weren't able to celebrate together. It was the only weekend that worked for everyone though, so we just celebrated once I got back!  We're still receiving gifts in the mail this week too, so that's been fun!  I'm slowly feeling more and more prepared for her arrival.

Miss anything? Alcohol :)

Movement? She is still moving around all the time!  We had our 32 week appointment last week and they said she was measuring a little small so the doctor wanted me to get an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay.  We just had the ultrasound today, but it was really hard to see her.  I couldn't make out anything because she's so big now and there is no room in there!  But good news....she's head down!  Hopefully she'll stay that way.  We don't see the doctor until next week, but the tech didn't seem concerned about her size.  She said she was measuring at 32 weeks, 5 days and I'm 33 weeks exactly today so its not much smaller.  We'll see what the doctor says next week though.

Food cravings? None.

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope!

Have you started to show yet? Yep....I'm quite large and its hard to believe I'll be getting even larger!

Baby is a? GIRL!

Belly button in or out? Its officially an outie now!

Wedding rings on or off? On but my fingers are swollen so they are tight!  Some days, I just wear my wedding band because it seems to feel looser that way.  I may have to go out and get a fake ring soon!

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Our 34 week appointment next week!  Also, Doc and I finally put together baby girl's dresser so now I can finally get her room organized.  I also received her bedding at the shower, so now I can get all of that washed and ready.  I will do a nursery reveal as soon as I get her room done!  I'm getting there but there are still many pieces that are missing at this point.  I currently have no artwork for the walls....any recommendations??

Have a great weekend!

31 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

Happy Thursday!

How far along? 31 weeks!

Baby is the size of? A head of lettuce {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes? The only non-maternity clothes I can fit into are long stretchy shirts or some dresses.  Other than that, its all maternity!  I refuse to buy more maternity clothes at this point too, so I'm just wearing the same things every week.  I'm looking forward to getting my wardrobe back and getting wear fun outfits again!

Stretch marks? None so far! Still using Belli Elasticity Belly Oil every night and also using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion.

Symptoms? Congestion, rib pain, and back pain.  I'm not sure if I'm having braxton hicks contractions or not, but I do notice my uterus gets very tight and hard some times which it supposedly what happens during braxton hicks contractions.

Sleep? Sleeping pretty well nowadays.  I can't wait to sleep on my stomach again but I've gotten used to sleeping on my side {with the help of a body pillow} and I actually don't get woken up to pee. I only get up to pee when I hear Doc leave for work at 5:30AM.

Best moment of the week? I had to go to Columbus, OH overnight for work so it was fun getting together with friends I haven't seen in a while and co-workers too. Many of them had not seen me with a bump so that was fun!

Miss anything? A cold glass of wine...

Movement? She's still very active!  She also gets the hiccups EVERY DAY so its funny to feel them.  I still do not know what position she's in but she's still always sitting to my right.

Food cravings? None.

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope!

Have you started to show yet? Yep....I'm quite large and its hard to believe I'll be getting even larger!

Baby is a? GIRL!

Belly button in or out? Working on becoming an outie at the moment...

Wedding rings on or off? On but I did notice them getting tighter now.

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Going to Boston on Saturday for a work conference and then coming home and heading to Miami for my baby shower!  I can't wait to see all my family and friends that are down there.  It's hard to believe that the next time I go down there will be with baby girl!

Have a great weekend!

30 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 30 weeks!

Baby is the size of? A large cabbage {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes? Still wearing almost all maternity clothes with the exception of a few shirts and some dresses.

Stretch marks? None so far! Still using Belli Elasticity Belly Oil every night and also using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion.

Symptoms? I've been congested in the evenings and mornings and I noticed I've been sneezing a lot, so I wonder if I've developed allergies or something?  I'm pretty sure sneezing isn't a pregnancy symptom!  Other than that, still having rib pain and lower back pain when I walk a lot and stand a lot.

Sleep? I'm getting more and more tired nowadays which is good.  I was hoping this insomnia late at night would go away so I think its getting better. Can't wait for the day where I can sleep on my stomach again!

Best moment of the week? Doc and I got the chandelier hung in the nursery, which was definitely a challenge but we did it!  It looks so great in there....can't wait to show you pictures!  I probably won't show you anything until the nursery is complete though--sorry!

I also had my 30 week appointment and everything is still going great!  Baby girl is measuring right on schedule....I keep gaining and gaining though!  I'm like ok, is this going to stop or plateau at any point? Lol but I know its all a part of pregnancy and necessary.

Miss anything? Sleeping on my stomach and alcohol!

Movement? She has been so active!  My stomach just moves and moves, especially at night.  It's almost always on my right side but I cannot figure out what position she's in!  I thought it might be her head on my right, but there's so much movement I feel like it should be her legs. I wish there were another ultrasound so I can see!

On

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Enjoying the next 10 weeks of pregnancy before baby girl makes her appearance!  I am savoring every weekend where I can sleep in and do whatever I want.  I know things are about to change drastically! Also, next week I'm driving back to Columbus for a work meeting so I'll get to see a lot of co-workers I haven't seen in awhile and some friend while I'm there, so I'm looking forward to that!

Hope you all enjoy your long holiday weekend!  Any special plans?

29 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 29 weeks!

Baby is the size of? A small cabbage {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes? Still wearing almost all maternity clothes with the exception of a few shirts and some dresses.

Stretch marks? None so far! Still using Belli Elasticity Belly Oil every night and also using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark Lotion.

Symptoms? Rib pain, back pain, congestion....

Sleep? Finding it hard to fall asleep still but once I'm asleep, I sleep pretty well.  I've gotten used to sleeping on my side although I really miss sleeping on my stomach!

Best moment of the week? My in-laws were visiting this past weekend so we went to Ikea and got baby girl's dresser/changing table and some wall shelves for her books!  We also received our glider last week so its been really fun seeing the room come together! As soon as Doc has time, we'll put the dresser together and with that, all the furniture will be complete.

We also started receiving some baby gifts in the mail this week which has been really exciting! My baby shower is in 3 weeks so I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone and visiting Miami one last time before I give birth!

Miss anything? Sleeping on my stomach and alcohol!

Movement? Yup, feeling her everyday! It's been fun watching my belly move since her movements have become quite large.

Food cravings? None.

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope!

Have you started to show yet? Yep....I'm quite large and its hard to believe I'll be getting even larger!

Baby is a? GIRL!

Belly button in or out? Still in but its only a matter of time before it becomes an outie!

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: My 30 week appointment next week!  Also looking forward to getting baby girl's room more together.  I have a lot of small projects to do in there with Doc so I look forward to getting that all done!  Got lots of decorating to do, but its coming together slowly.  I'm also looking forward to a bunch of trips I'm taking in a few weeks--I have to drive to Columbus for a work meeting, fly to Boston for a work conference, and then fly to Miami for my baby shower!

28 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 28 weeks!

Baby is the size of? A head of cauliflower {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes? Still wearing almost all maternity clothes with the exception of a few shirts.  The pink stripe shirt above is actually non-maternity BUT it was definitely a little too short on me {I wore it anyway...its easy to get bored with my clothes because I wear the same outfits everyday}.

Stretch marks? None so far! Still using Belli Elasticity Belly Oil every night, although I'm almost out now, so I'm thinking about buying the Mustela Stretch Marks Double Action Cream next.  Every morning I also slather on moisturizing body lotion.

Symptoms? Achy back and congestion during the night that soon dissipates once I wake up.

Sleep? Still sleeping pretty well with my body pillow!

Best moment of the week? We had our 28 week appointment this week so it was wonderful hearing baby girl's heartbeat again!  I had to have my gestational diabetes tolerance test at this appointment and I'm glad to say I passed!  That sugary drink they make you drink is NASTYYY {all you moms out there know what I'm talking about}! I'll be going for my check-ups every 2 weeks, instead of 4 now that I'm in my 3rd trimester!

I also got impatient waiting for Doc to have time to build the crib with me sooo.....one night I decided I'd try to do it myself, and I did it!  Had it required a power drill, now that would have been a different story, but it was actually pretty simple.  I just had to get creative with using other things to hold up pieces of the crib while I screwed the bolts together. All in all, it was pretty simple and now its so fun to see the crib all put together! We also received our glider yesterday! Buy Buy Baby told me it'd take 8-12 weeks for the chair to come in, but it only took 6.  Now the room is really coming together!

Miss anything? Umm probably just alcohol!  A glass of champagne sounds so good right now!

Movement? She's been really active this past week and her movements are getting bigger and bigger by the day! It's so fun to watch my belly move now :)

Food cravings? Not craving anything too much. After having to drink that gross sugary drink for my diabetes test, I have been totally turned off from sugar!

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope!

Have you started to show yet? Oh yes.

Baby is a? GIRL!

Belly button in or out? Still in but its only a matter of time before it becomes an outie!

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: My in-laws will be visiting us this weekend and its also the "Dream Cruise" here in Royal Oak, MI which is this big yearly car show thing.  It's a BIG DEAL here {or so I've learned} so we'll check it out this year.  Everyone says it just becomes an annoyance to you because they shut down a huge main road for everyone to park their old cars and yay for me, we live right off of this road!

While my in-laws are here, we are going to go to Ikea and purchase the dresser for baby girl's room so once that is done, all the furniture in the room will be complete! Now onto all the other details like wall art and baskets, etc.

What are you all doing this weekend?

27 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

How far along? 27 weeks! 3 months to go!

Baby is the size of? A cucumber {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes? 100% maternity clothes these days! My normal clothes are just not fitting anymore {unless its a dress...I can get away with some dresses}

Stretch marks? Not yet, and I hope they never show up! Still using Belli Elasticity Belly Oil every night. My upper belly has been super itchy though so I think my skin is starting to stretch up there since I'm growing and growing!

Symptoms? No new symptoms as of late, which is great! Still just dealing with an achy back some days and {TMI} leaky boobs, but in all seriousness its not too bad. I just wear breast pads everyday but I'm barely getting any leakage. Its just like a couple drops so I can't complain.

Sleep? I've been sleeping pretty well and I've gotten good at not waking myself up too much when I get up to go to the bathroom {which is once or twice a night}. I am still finding, though,  I get energized at night and go to bed late and then I'm sluggish in the mornings and have the hardest time getting up. Good thing I work from home because rolling out of bed and turning my computer on is just about as much as I can handle for the first couple hours of the day!

Best moment of the week? Enjoying a good 2 days straight with Doc since he had both Saturday and Sunday off!  We test drove a few cars and finally narrowed it down to which car we want.  We are going to go with the Hyundai Santa Fe! It drove really nicely and it was a bit bigger than the other crossovers we were looking at so the extra room kinda sealed the deal for us. Doc also drives a Hyundai right now so we will get a loyalty discount. SOLD. We haven't actually bought the car yet though--in the next couple of weeks we'll finally order it.

Miss anything? Not really missing much this week!

Movement? She's definitely perfecting the hiccups or something because my whole belly will like spasm for like a good 30 seconds straight!  I'm sure she's starting to run out of room now so her movements will be getting stronger and stronger.

Food cravings? Sweets.....

Anything making you quesy or sick? Nope....I got really lucky during this pregnancy and was not sick at all!

Have you started to show yet? Yes, I gotta belly for sure!

Baby is a? GIRL!

Belly button in or out? In but I think its on its way to being an outie!

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: The weekend but Doc is working nights for the next couple weeks so I won't be able to hang out with him.  That means I'll probably try to get out of the house a lot, so as to not make too much noise during the day while he's sleeping. BUTTT that means, I will inevitably start spending money shopping which is no bueno! There is just so much that I want/need for the house that I can't help but check out every Home Goods in my area....Home Good is the bomb, no? They have the cutest stuff for the best prices!

I hope you all have great weekends ahead!

26 Weeks Baby Bump Update!

Happy Thursday everyone!

How far along? 26 weeks!

Baby is the size of? Still an eggplant {according to What to Expect When Your Expecting}

Maternity clothes?100% maternity clothes these days! My normal clothes are just not fitting anymore {unless its a dress...I can get away with some dresses}

Stretch marks? Not yet, and I hope they never show up! Still using Belli Elasticity Belly Oil every night.

Symptoms? My back has been hurting a lot! I'm going to schedule a prenatal massage soon to see if that helps but I think I'm really starting to arch my back more because of the weight of the baby in the front. Other than that, everything has been good!

Sleep? Well last night I slept 9 hours straight and had the hardest time getting out of bed this morning! I find that if I get woken up enough {like when Doc leaves for work}, then I'm up for a good hour and a half...I just cannot fall back to sleep. But of course I eventually do and then have the hardest time getting out of bed! So sleep is up and down.

Best moment of the week? FINALLY getting the nursery painted! I just finished today after visiting Sherwin Williams like 5 times this week.  I've never actually painted a room before so I tried my best and looked up tons of tips on the Internet but I still had issues with getting my rolled parts and cut-in parts to blend. Around the top of the walls near the ceiling is where its most noticeable but only if you look closely now, so whatever! I give up on it.

Miss anything? Alcohol.

Movement? I think she had the hiccups the other day which was a funny feeling! I feel her moving around in the everyday but its sporadic and mostly when I lay down at night.

Food cravings? Nothing really.

Anything making you quesy or sick? None!

Have you started to show yet? Yes, I gotta belly for sure!

Baby is a? GIRL!

Belly button in or out? In but I think its on its way to being an outie!

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!

Looking forward to: Hanging out with Doc this weekend! He has the whole weekend off for once so we're going to go to some car dealerships on Saturday and hopefully find me a new car! I'm very excited :)

Five for Friday!

Happy happy Friday!

It's been awhile since I've done a Five for Friday post and I've been reading for months now all the links ups that go on, so I thought I'd participate this week!

ONE. I finally decided on a paint color for the nursery and I ended up with White Dogwood by Sherwin Williams!  Its a beautiful light pink shade so fingers crossed I still like it once I put it up on the walls!  Here are some pictures of the paint color:

TWO. While my brother and his wife were visiting last week, we all drove to Ann Arbor, MI and walked around their HUGE art fair which we kind of stumbled upon unintentionally.  I've never actually bought anything at an art fair but when Doc and I layed eyes on this gem...we had to have it!

The photographer calls the piece "Piggy" and he said he got this image while he was in the Bahamas just a couple months ago.  He said off of one of the islands down there, someone had the brilliant idea of bringing a handful of pigs with the thinking that 10 pigs will turn into 20...and so on.  Well that didn't happen. The pigs just ate everything on the island they could get their mouths on and started to starve. So when boaters would drive by, they'd throw food to the pigs and then the pigs started swimming out to the boats and now, they swim all the time! I'd like to go see some swimming piggies!

THREE. I have my first bouquet of home grown flowers in my house! Back in April, Doc and I planted some beautiful white lilies and now they're fully bloomed and they're gorgeous!! They smell amazing as well. This probably would have cost us at least $70 from a flower shop but we got them for the whopping price of....$6! Just plant and make sure you water every day.  We have some stargazer lilies that are still growing right now so I can't wait to see those fully bloomed!

FOUR. I'm so excited that Giuliana & Bill is back on TV for their 6th season! I've been watching their show for years and I was so excited to see what life was like with their new little baby Duke now.  He is adorable! On the show, Bill has a conversation with some of his friends and they guys said they set up email accounts for their children once they were born, and whenever they're thinking of them they just send them an email. Once the children are older, they can look back at these emails and read on this specific day, they did this funny thing or said this, or daddy was on a trip and missed him/her. I think that's such a cute idea!

FIVE. This chicken recipe is the bomb!  Its baked quinoa crusted chicken parmesan and its seriously delicious! I highly recommend using fresh mozzarella and butterflying the chicken so that its not too thick. Pair it with some yummy pasta and you have dinner!  Seriously....try this!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
