Winter Gear

Well its definitely that time of year, despite being cold and snowy across most of the US, where everyone is shopping for and thinking of Spring/Summer already! Malls are packed with warm clothes, spring decorations are out, and everyone is talking about summer plans...

While I usually jump right on board with this because more than anyone, I love the heat BUT this year my head is still in Winter....or more like cold weather!  Since finding out I'm moving to Michigan in May, I'm already thinking of all the cold weather gear I should stock up on.

Yes.....I have been living in Midwest for close to 8 years now, but suprisingly, I'm really lacking warm clothes in my closet. I also know Michigan gets more snow than where I am in Ohio {and its a bit colder} so I thought I should take advantage of all the winter sales happening as we approach Spring!

Here is what I have my eye on:

Hunter Boots {I hear great things about these!}:

Calvin Klein Puffer Coat {I actually just bought this over the weekend and am trying to decide whether to keep it or find another one. I want one with fur around the hood.}:

Base layers like this North Face shirt {I don't own any base layers but I know they're comfy and keep you warm}:
Warm North Face gloves {Love these North Face "etip" gloves so you can use your iphone while keeping your hands warm!}:

Those are just a few of the many things I need in the year ahead... I never did buy a fur vest. I think those came in about as quickly as they went out.  You don't see them as much anymore, right?  I also never got a cape, but I would love one!  Any suggestions, send my way!
Have a great rest of the day!

We're moving to......

.......MICHIGAN!  Royal Oak, Michigan to be more specific!

We are over the moon excited that Doc has matched at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak {right outside of Detroit} and even more shocked and excited because this was his #1 choice!  We just didn't expect him to get into his #1....we thought he'd probably go down to #5 or so just because of how competitive all of these program are!

I am just soooo proud of Doc because he's worked so hard to get here and he deserves this!  Unfortunately I am going to a no less warm environment, but that's okay.....I hear wonderful things about Royal Oak {my brother actually lived there about 8 years ago} so we are excited to explore a new city!  We will surely be celebrating tonight!!

If anyone lives in Royal Oak or has lived there...please email me!  I'd love to hear about where to live or any tips you have for me! :)

I'm on the edge of my seat today because tomorrow is the day. THE DAY.

Tomorrow, Doc finds out where he matches for residency and where we'll be moving to for the next 5 years! Crazzyyy!  I can't believe this day is already here and at the same time, it feels like we've been on the brink of this day for like a year.

Doc ranked 13 programs so that means there are 13 possible cities we could end up in from Miami to Detroit to Richmond, Virginia and everything in between. And its a matching system, so for those of you who are not familiar, Doc ranks the programs from 1 to 13 in order of who he likes the most to the least.......and each program ranks the people they interviewed from 1 to whatever (25? 30?) and it all goes into a computer and spits out one place you go for everyone...............or most everyone!  Some people will not match, which would be a nightmare so I don't even want to think about that! But he'll just get an email tomorrow saying where he matched and that's it.  No if ands or butts.

This is the culmination of his entire academic career.  This is where its determined if he gets to practice what he's interested in or not.....which is Urology by the way.  Soo its a big deal!  He's nervous as hell right now, but I know he'll be fine.  Urology is a very competitive specialty so its very difficult to get in...there are only so many spots in the country (I think its around 260 and there are close to 500 or more applicants!). I just want him to match and I hope its at a program that he likes, but as long as he matches, that's all that matters!

Soooooooooo tomorrow I will surely let you know where it is we'll be spending the next 5 years of our lives!  We'll most likely be moving in early May, so I'm looking forward to exploring a new city or just getting a change of scenery.  Fingers crossed its somewhere warm after the terrible feezinggggggg temps we're experiencing in Ohio right now!

Until tomorrow.....
